oh god, i hope you’re ready for what is definitely going to be a long and passionate rhapsody on this topic – and you’re absolutely right, there are a lot of people out there who think q!misato “completely destroyed misato”, etc. obviously as someone who loves both nge!misato and q!misato – and someone who sees the very natural nexus between the two – i couldn’t disagree more. to keep it short and succinct, the reason why i find q!misato so fascinating is that she’s all but given up on her original goal to be a mother, and became a father instead.
misato is the only character in evangelion that we’ve seen go through most of lifes’ stages – we’ve seen her as a little kid no older than 5, we’ve seen her as a 14 year old, we’ve seen her as a college student, we’ve seen her as an adult on the cusp of her 30s, and now we’re seeing her as a 43 year old woman. that’s her father’s age – she’s no longer so much the ‘victim’ of her father’s trauma but an actor implicit in her father’s trauma. misato’s at the age where she is reenacting what are now solidified internalizations about how the world should work upon the younger generation, namely shinji.

i don’t care for the curse of eva. i don’t care for khara’s transparent, half-assed attempts at maintaining the children’s youthfulness while simultaneously giving everyone a superficial excuse to sexualize them with some fancy guilt-free clauses attached. the “well, they’re technically 28” argument is fallacious as all hell — people aren’t sexualizing their “grown” “adult” “minds”, but their bodies, which have oh so conveniently stayed the same.

Lobbyists are pushing a bill that would be super bad for copyright. Think SOPA and Article 13 + 11 meshed together. Like THAT bad.
It’s called H.R. 1695/S.1010, and what it would do is allow the president to appoint who will be the next Register of Copyrights. Right now that office is under the control of the Library of Congress. It’s a non-political position. But Hollywood has been lobbying hard to get this into a political position.
Whoever Trump picks is obviously going to be someone who bows to the whims of Hollywood and pushes for things like website blocking, upload filters, etc. It’s bad. It’s like BAD bad.
Anyway, it’s heading into a Senate committee meeting on December 12. I’m not going to lie, it looks dire. BUT it hasn’t passed the committee yet so it’s not headed to the Senate yet so I mean idk, let’s TRY to at least get them to not pass this law?

It’s kinda scary how… well they got people to side with them. Not by outright attacking gay peoples’ lives, but by putting up little things that seemed less straightforwardly hateful. Instead of saying “gay marriage was immoral”, they said “marriage was special” and that “children needed a mother and father”.
And it worked
It hella shows how a lot of current arguments against LGBT are just fearmongering tactics that have no standing
